Mano a Mano

Men have typically and historically preserved themselves clothing that projects seriousness, solidarity, and respect while leaving the decorative and frivolous to women. By now however, women have adopted the masculine wardrobe, while men’s clothing remains mostly unchanged. In this collection I question if it is possible to bring feminine elements into menswear without questioning the masculinity of the wearer. I will incorporate feminine elements through techniques strictly associated with womenswear to a masculine audience to combine these two approaches to subtly infiltrate femininity to traditional menswear through silhouette and textile. Studying and looking at the images of boxers from the beginning of the century. I wish to incorporate strength as well as vulnerability in men captured in those portraits in order to create a new form of dress that showcases both their assets.
